OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced Front End / Wordpress developer to augment our team 8 hours week working on purpose-driven projects. Ideally you're based in LA, but we're open to remote work as well. You will be building and launching sites for clients like TED, ONE.org, World Science U & World Science Festival, The Smithsonian, NASA, and the Rockefeller Foundation.

 

You will be:

  • Developing new features and maintaining WordPress-based sites
  • Improving performance of existing pages
  • Creating new pages and post types
  • Turning Sketch files into page templates

 

You have:

  • Expert knowledge of Wordpress architecture, developing custom themes, custom content types and creating custom plugins
  • Experience with common Wordpress plugins and best practices
  • A history of shipping sites and webapps as the primary frontend developer
  • A concern for design details and ability to talk through implementation concerns
  • Developed with Sass and a modern frontend build tool (grunt.js or gulp.js)
  • Solid front end development skills, the ability to build carefully crafted, responsive renderings of design comps
  • Experience creating javascript (jQuery) modules with sophisticated user interactions
  • Experience with templating patterns and best practices such as partials, layout extensions and mixins
  • Experience translating wireframes into content types and data structures
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A love of building things, you like designers, and you like making clients happy.
  • Full comfort using git and version control, and can work in a collaborative team environment
  • Experience using package managers such as composer and NPM for dependencies
  • Remote experience (if you plan to work remotely)

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Vagrant
  • Experience with Laravel and PHP application development
  • Experience with Craft CMS
  • Experience with templating languages such as Twig (bonus! WordPress Timber plugin)
  • Experience with creating tests and working with CI (Jenkins)
